July 10 - 31
Class Description

Learn how to sculpt new flatware pieces in wax for metal casting in this four session course. Work in carving wax and soft wax to achieve textures and forms that are specific to your designs. This course will focus on creating a three piece set including a spoon, fork, and knife. Metal finishing techniques will be taught to complete these pieces. Discussion topics will include incorporating other materials for handles and decorative embellishments, hollow castings, mass finishing and production considerations.

Students should arrive with design inspiration (photos, drawings, thoughts) for the first class along with the materials on the supply list.

This is an open level class, no previous experience necessary.

The metal casting for this course is outsourced and is the responsibility of the student.
