October 19 & 20
Class Description

This experimental and process-driven workshop for beginners and advanced students will explore how drawing and collage can be used to develop ideas and create finished pieces. Using found materials as inspiration, students will generate a palette of forms and symbols to be used throughout the class. By focusing on the conceptual and technical potential of cutting, pasting, and assembling, students will also incorporate simple jewelry techniques, basic wood working, and paper embossing to make wearable and non-wearable works. Through making connections between imagery, symbolism, and material we will discuss ways to build and integrate content. Rather than a set outcome, students will reach unique conclusions and come away with new approaches to the design process.

Maximum class size is 12 students.
