August 23 - October 18
Class Description

This course is a continuation of our goldsmithing series. In this class students will investigate refined approaches to jewelry fabrication, paying special attention to precise fitting, soldering, and stone setting. Projects will include accented drop earrings with movement, chain necklace with pendant, and a bearing bezel ring. Decorative enhancements and more advanced techniques will be introduced throughout the course.

Students are encouraged to work in the gold alloys of their choosing, and have the option of purchasing milled stock or casting grain to pour their own ingot for milling. Melting down old scrap is also encouraged. BKMW goldsmithing students have the opportunity to order metal directly from Hoover & Strong.

Previous goldsmithing experience required.
