Class Description

A spoon is so matter of fact in most of our everyday lives that it is rarely considered by the user. Here we are going to take a closer look at this ubiquitous utensil and heighten its attributes by designing it specifically for desserts. Ice cream, pudding, custards, fruit cobblers and more! Now you can create flatware that is perfect for your sweetest indulgence.

In this one day workshop you will learn how to make your very own silver dessert spoon.  We will begin with designing the basic shape and then sawing the bowl from sheet and shaping the handle from heavy wire.  Through this basic introduction to simple forming, forging, and soldering the spoon will be created. Design embellishments as well as finishing will be covered.

This utensil will be completed in one day, and will be useful for a lifetime.  If you enjoy making as much as you enjoy eating, this workshop is for you.  And if you are game, we will take our new spoons out for a trial run at one of our many marvelous local ice cream shops after the workshop ends!

Open to all levels.
