July 10 - 31
Class Description

This four-session workshop will focus on creating multiples through the use of molds and casting.  You will learn how to use silicone putty and alginate to make your own molds to replicate forms, shapes, and textures. Students will bring in found and natural objects to create their original molds from. Through the hands-on process of wax casting, students will learn how to control the thickness of the wax piece and customize the design through wax modeling and manipulation techniques. Once in metal, casting cleanup techniques, surface embellishments, and final finishes to complete the piece will be covered.

This course is open to beginners and intermediate students wanting to strengthen and expand their wax modeling approaches.

The metal casting for this class is outsourced and will be the responsibility of the student.
