Class Description

Turn your drawing into a colorful champlevé enamel lapel pin in this one-day workshop. Champlevé is a technique where hollow areas in the metal surface are filled with colored enamel. You will begin with a line drawing that will be pierced and sawn in copper sheet and then sweat soldered to a copper base plate. This process will create the recessed areas to be filled with enamel. The enamel will be wet packed into the negative spaces and torch fired to vitrify and fuse. This process is repeated several times to fill the enamel flush with the surface of the copper line. A soldered tie tack will complete the piece along with other surface finishes.

This one-day workshop will take you through the complete process of creating a sawn, soldered, and torch fired enamel pin.  Open to all levels. The course fee includes material costs in lieu of a supply list. Please bring a notebook and favorite drawing tools to class.
