October 18 - December 20
Class Description

Learn the basics of wax working or practice your carving skills while exploring a classic jewelry form: the signet ring. This 8 session course will cover design, planning, sizing, and carving of this traditional but surprisingly complex form. The class will review ancient and contemporary examples of signet rings and discuss the variations in shape, scale, and fit, that set different styles apart. Each student will carve at least two rings in wax, bring them to an outside casting house, and finish them in metal during class.

Metal casting for this class is outsourced and will be the responsibility of the student.

This is an open level course, perfect for beginners as well as those looking to increase their wax carving skills.

Maximum class size 12 students.
