Blowpipe Torch Demo

Attai Chen will be demonstrating one of his favorite tools, the “blowpipe torch”.  This torch allows Chen to build the delicately hollow forms that were showcased in his Forgotten Things series. Due to the slow and repetitive nature of this tool, Chen utilizes the technique to replicate natural growing processes.  By fusing and soldering thin layers of silver on top of one another Chen creates natural forms that are extremely lightweight and durable. For this demo Chen will also show the use of enamels with the torch in the development of the aesthetic of the final form.
