Class Description

Take your work to the next level with that perfect final finish in this 5 session surface intensive course. Explore the potential for different metal surface treatments and learn what to look for with various polishing compounds, sanding grits, and how to control your tools for maximum consistency. Polishing will be taught with flex shaft attachments and the polishing machine.

Students will work on practice rings, bringing each one up to a different finish: high polish, satin finish, and a textured finish of their choice. Students have the option to bring in a jewelry piece of their own making for help problem solving their intended surface finish. This course will get you set up with the knowledge and the tools to continue creating the intentional surfaces your designs deserve.

This class is for beginner and intermediate level jewelers; students with prior metalsmithing experience. To take this course students are expected to have basic familiarity with jewelry making processes. Our Welcome to Jewelry class offers this introduction.

Class size 4 – 12 students. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required to take this class. Masks are required to be worn for all studio work.

Prices for Classes
All students receive a 50% discount on hourly bench rentals throughout the duration of their course.
Refunds & Credit

Withdrawals from class 7 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund for the class minus a 10% processing fee. If cancellation occurs 3-6 days prior to the class, we will provide a 50% refund. Cancellations 48 hours or less receive a 25% refund. Refunds will not be provided for no-shows or same-day cancellations.

We do not refund tuition for classes that students miss due to their own circumstances. Students enrolled in multi-session studio courses (excluding workshops and intensives) may make-up missed class sessions during open studio hours for up to two weeks after the last class meeting.

We reserve the right to cancel or discontinue any class, in which case you may choose to receive a refund, apply the class credit towards a different course, or receive a tuition credit for future use. Tuition credits are valid for up to one year. Refunds will be issued within 30 days.
