Class Description

Your signature style is what differentiates your jewelry brand from the competition. It is what sets the tone for everything you design, fabricate, and communicate. With a clear description and professional visual presentation of your jewelry brand, you’ll be ready to step out in public and monetize your work, regardless of whether you’ve been in business for one year or ten. Through presentations, guest experts, and reading and homework assignments we will work both independently and collaboratively to: 

  • Clearly and effectively define your business around style, materials, and techniques. You will identify your unique style and the value proposition that differentiates you in the marketplace. (week 1)
  • Develop a visual branding concept (or revise your existing branding), based on color theory and typography. In this session we will also discuss packaging, display, and key words that you’ll use to describe your brand. (week 2)
  • Establish a photography style that’s best suited for your work. We will discuss photography best practices for a variety of purposes (including show applications, social media, look books/sales materials), helpful photography tools, and online services that will cost-effectively deliver professional-looking images. (week 3)
  • Craft a marketing strategy that’s relevant to your brand. We will discuss best practices for social media, pitching your brand or business to the press (both trade and consumer), and pitching etiquette in general (week 4)
  • Assess trade and retail shows, what they are, what the benefits and costs of doing them are, and how to know when you’re ready. We will discuss online application platforms that are helpful for tracking and evaluating shows (week 5)
  • Pricing/sales/contracts: wholesale, consignment, retail: We will discuss how to price your work, how to legally protect yourself in consignment situations, and how to be a good retail partner. (week 6-7)
  • Present your brand to the class, Being able to talk about your brand with confidence and clarity is critically important to the success of your jewelry business and this will be your safe and supportive space to perfect your pitch for any sales and marketing setting. (week 8)

At the conclusion of this course you will have the tools to set yourself apart and make your brand memorable, relatable, and enduring to consumers of all types. 


To get the most out of this class it will be helpful to have started building your jewelry or wearable art business and to have a collection of at least 5-10 pieces. Public speaking is required as is being visually present during class meetings via Zoom or a like video meeting platform.

Prices for Classes
Refunds & Credit

Withdrawals from class 7 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund for the class minus a 10% processing fee. If cancellation occurs 3-6 days prior to the class, we will provide a 50% refund. Cancellations 48 hours or less receive a 25% refund. Refunds will not be provided for no-shows or same-day cancellations.

We do not refund tuition for classes that students miss due to their own circumstances. Students enrolled in multi-session studio courses (excluding workshops and intensives) may make-up missed class sessions during open studio hours for up to two weeks after the last class meeting.

We reserve the right to cancel or discontinue any class, in which case you may choose to receive a refund, apply the class credit towards a different course, or receive a tuition credit for future use. Tuition credits are valid for up to one year. Refunds will be issued within 30 days.
