Class Description

Pavé stone setting is a powerful skill to add to your portfolio. Whether you want to add a new understanding to your design work or open up more opportunities at the bench, this course is definitely for you.

Over the 5 classes you will begin with a plate setting and then be taken through the entire build of a half eternity set ring, examining each detail of the process as we move through the project. You will cover in depth theory, combined with detailed demonstration and practical application, to leave you with a definitive understanding of the Pavé setting process and how it may apply to your work.

Pavé is a traditional diamond setting technique that places many small gemstones close together to create a surface of gems on an object. These gems are referred to as melee, which is any faceted gemstone measuring under 3mm. Due to the scale of this work and the precise nature of the processes, students should have familiarity with using the flex shaft as well as comfort with basic gemstone setting techniques. Students at all levels of proficiency will be supported in this course.

This is a condensed version of our 8 session Pavé Stone Setting Fundamentals.

Class size 4 – 12 students. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required. Masks are required to be worn for all studio coursework.

A tool kit has been specially created for this course and is available for purchase through our Tool Shop. These supplies will be distributed at the first class session.
