Class Description

Chain linkages are an iconic form of adornment. In this class you will infuse your personal design aesthetic into this classic jewelry format. Students will go in depth and explore two styles of chain: a reproducible cable chain and a multi-link chain that closes by means other than soldering.

This is a combined approach class beginning with wax working and then incorporating metal work techniques. Various wax carving techniques will be covered, as well as metal casting clean up, component soldering, and metal finishing. Chain closures and clasps will be discussed.

Basic jewelry metal fabrication skills are required.

Metal casting for this class is outsourced and will be the responsibility of the student.

Class size 4 – 12 students. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required. Masks are required to be worn for all studio coursework.

A tool kit is available for purchase as well as other supplies for this class through our Tool Shop.
