Hone your jewelry skills to bridge the gap between wax working and metal fabrication in this 8 session project based course.

Combining the volume and intricacy that wax working more easily affords, with the crisp accuracy of metal fabricated gemstone settings, you will design a pendant that incorporates a faceted gemstone with a cast metal element.

Start with metal to build a step bezel, then introduce dimension through wax carving. You’ll learn how to achieve exact detail with your setting process for a cleaner, brighter bezel than when using  wax alone. We will go over designing and fabricating the right bail for your pendant as well as hanging considerations and styles. Casting clean up and stones setting will be taught.

We’ll begin the session with a discussion on material choice and ways of calculating how much  metal you will need for your chosen stone.

This course is designed for gold and silver, but students may work in brass if preferred. Basic jewelry metal fabrication skills are required.

Maximum class size 4 students.

Taught by Odette Channell
All students receive a 50% discount on hourly and daily bench rentals throughout the duration of their course.
