Call for Guest Curators

Brooklyn Metal Works is now accepting submissions for curatorial proposals of exhibitions to be held in our gallery. As part of our mission to expand the understanding of the field of metalsmithing and jewelery, and to build a strong community of artists, designers, and makers, we are looking to support multiple visions of how a gallery can perform. We are interested in the cross pollination of unexpected combinations. From this perspective we will gladly consider proposals that include installation, performance, mixed media, and sculpture. The Brooklyn Metal Works gallery exists to activate dynamic ideas.

As well as serving to support the artists whose work is represented, we aim to support curatorial vision. An honorarium will be awarded to the curator(s) and stipends are available for critical writing components that serve as support for, or extensions of, exhibitions.

Proposals should include:

> A well developed statement of purpose, including the topic’s relevancy to the field of metal.

> Images of works being considered for the exhibition should be attached, along with short explanations for their inclusion.

> A projected timeline for the project, including collecting the work, images, and any other material and written support.

> A short biographical statement from the proposal’s curator and any examples of relevant experience.

Please send proposals to gallery@bkmetalworks.com with “Guest Curator” as the subject.
