Cement is a beautiful and easy material to use in all areas of jewelry. This two day workshop will introduce you to working with cement as well as its uses in contemporary art jewelry and design. You will learn the working properties of the material and how to properly mix and cast with it. You will also be shown one-part urethane mold making, how to apply color and stains, and how to incorporate multiple surface treatments.
This course will cover using pre-made bezels for quick setting, though basic fabrication techniques will be taught if time permits. You many either purchase pre-made bezels (examples can be found here) or construct your own. Please bring several small scale items that you are interested in molding.
This class is open to all levels.
A materials fee of $35 to cover mold making and cement costs will be payable at the beginning of the workshop.
