Call for Artists
Anonymous Brooklyn | Begin Anywhere - call opening soon!
Anonymous Brooklyn is an installation built one person at a time. Over the course of New York City Jewelry Week all artists are invited to bring a piece of jewelry for display In the Gallery at Brooklyn Metal Works.
Artists are asked to become part of this installation performance by donning a face covering mask to anonymously hang their work on the wall. The objects and installation are documented and the images are shared on social media for all to see as the collection/installation grows.
All work will be placed on one wall. This is an accumulation, an accretion. Whoever hangs the first piece gets the first pick of placement and from there it grows. It might grow over, it might grow under. No artist will harm the work of another, but elbows will rub, hair may fall in your eyes, and proximity will certainly alter perception.
Works on view may be for sale or for display only. This information will be attached to the images as they appear in our social media feeds. Once a piece is installed, if it is for sale, it is available for purchase at that time. However, works may not be de-installed until after the opening reception concludes.
No names will be known. All works are displayed anonymously.
On Saturday night the show is only viewable in its complete state for three hours during the reception, which is open to the public, and de-installation begins the next day. Visitors are allowed to view the installation as it grows over the week and are welcome to come by the gallery during installation hours.
Come be a part of the jewelry community you want to see. Anonymous Brooklyn is for everyone.
