Amelia Toelke grew up in small-town upstate New York. Her practice draws from a passion for making and the objects and ornament that shape the material landscape. Toelke completed her MFA in 2011 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her BFA in 2005 at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Prior to graduate school, Toelke helped organize a shared studio and community gallery space in Kingston, New York—a venture that has had a lasting influence on her interest and exploration in collaboration and public art.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Currently, Toelke lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
